Why Get a public library card?


Remember there are online books that may be read on your own time. Try these apps/software: MyOn, TumbleBook Library, Destiny Discover, and eReads.


MyOn
This software provides access to thousands of high-quality, high-interest eBooks including fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels. Schools with MyOn Access can login at my.clayton.k12.ga.us and click Clever to login and read digital books in MyOn. MyOn features will allow you to check out books and includes handy tools like highlighting, notes, dictionary, and read aloud capabilities. This software also can show students their lexile growth.

(ex. 6/5/2008, no extra zeros)
Teacher's access
Username: ID number
Password is default upon initial set up

TumbleBook Library
The Clayton County Public Library provides access to TumbleBook Library, a collection of hundreds of ebooks including animated picture books, read-along chapter books, videos, and more.
To begin reading, go to claytonpl.org/kids and click TumbleBook Library.

Destinydiscover.com
This software not only has ebooks to read, but it also has a great search engine, to Britannica (an online encyclopedia).

Galileo is an extensive search engine to get some great research done. To access Galileo go to your portal, click the Galileo link to access Galileo: Georgia’s Virtual Library. If you are prompted for a password, the current password is credo . When searching Galileo’s many resources, be sure to use the filters found on the left side of the results page to narrow your search: check the Full Text box to ensure your results include only complete articles; change the Publication Date to a range such as 2020 to 2022 to ensure the articles shown are recent. Two of the main sources found include: Periodical = a magazine article aimed at the general public often written by a professional writer; Academic Journal = a scholarly article aimed at specialists, academics, and researchers often written by an expert on the subject.
